常考词的语法与用法:boil & book & borrow & both,either &am

◆boil v.

We should drink boiled water.

误:We should drink boiling water.

◆book n.

Don’t read such books.

He is reading a book on Shakespeare.

Can I look at those books?

Jim demanded to see my books.

Please answer my questions without looking at your books.

Students must not look at their books during examinations.

Where does he teach?

He taught school for three years.

◆borrow v.

May I borrow your bike?

Some people neither borrow nor lend.

I borrowed some money from him.

◆both,either & neither

He has two sons; both of them are clever.

He has three sons; all of them are clever.

He has two sons; either of them is clever.

He has three sons; any of them is clever.

He has two sons; neither of them is clever.

He has three sons; none of them are clever.

Both of the brothers are here. / Both brothers are here.

Either of the books will do. / Either book will do.

Neither of the stories is interesting. /Neither story is interesting.

(1) both……and……

She was both tired and hungry.

He speaks both English and French.

(2) either……or……

He must be either mad or drunk.

You can either write or phone to request a copy.

(3) neither……nor……

It’s neither cold nor hot.

He neither knows or cares what happened.

Either you or I am wrong.

Neither he nor she was at home.

There are shops on both sides.

正:There are shops on either side.

I want neither of them.

正:I don’t want either of them.
